Spinal Decompression

Spinal decompression therapy is a non surgical treatment

Spinal decompression therapy is a non surgical treatment for chronic lower back pain caused by degenerative disc disease, herniated disc or other deformities of the disc. This treatment is also adopted for pain in the neck, arms or legs and involves reducing the load to the spine.

If you have recently sustained a back injury in a car, slip and fall, or work-related accident and are seeking non-surgical back pain relief, then our Bridwell Wellness Center Chiropractors may have the answer you’re looking for. Because back pain is the #1 cause for visits to the doctor of chiropractic in the United States, BWC Chiropractic spinal decompression therapy could help you get out of pain fast and begin the process of working towards a full and complete recovery.

What is Spinal Decompression?

Spinal Decompression Therapy works by restoring proper function to an injured disc. This is done by producing a controlled, mechanical traction on the spine using our Triton DTS Decompression Table. During the pull phase, injured discs are gently stretched apart, producing a suction force inside the disc. This draws disc buldges and herniations back into the center of the disc along with oxygen, water, nutrients, and other healing substances. The end result is a strong, healthy, properly functioning disc in about 84% of the patients.

What conditions are treated using Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression therapy?
DTS Spinal Decompression Therapy is an effective treatment for Herniated disc, Degenerative disc, Facet syndrome, Sciatica, Post-surgical patients,  and Spinal Stenosis

Who can benefit from Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression Therapy?
Spinal decompression therapy is designed to unload the spinal disc. Any back pain or neck pain caused in whole or in part by a damaged disc may be helped by spinal decompression therapy. These conditions include herniated, protruding or bulging discs, spinal stenosis, sciatica or radiculopathy (pinched nerves).

How often do I come in for sessions and how long do they last?
At Bridwell Wellness Center a typical treatment plan consists of 15-25 sessions, depending on the condition of the disc. Each spinal decompression session last approximately 15-20 minutes (after the initial consultation).
